Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

Each year The Color Pantone Panel, a core group of designers chose the seasonal colors that will affect all forms of design. And this year, we see magic in the air. We see enigma. We see soft passion..we’ve fallen for the color of the year.

“While the 2013 color of the year, Pantone 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” said Leatrice Elseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. ” An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”

“An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Since the end of Fall 2013, I’ve began noticing the increasing use of this particular color in retail fashion. Which really doesn’t surprise me, look at how forward companies like Forever21 are with presenting a season color…an entire year ahead of time. And it’s warming to know that companies are seeking such a vibrant color. It’s magical, really. It may be trendy in it’s time, but using it in subtle terms, changes your aesthetic. It also radiates your skin tone, so using a lot of it, won’t hurt either.

How enchanting.

In beauty means, expect Radiant Orchid to enrich the skin, keeping you lively and healthy. Not to mention that it exudes an energetic commotion of excitement and wonder. Blending both the cool and warm undertones, it mainstays an appeal factor that is distinctive in multi-combinations. (It’s also flattering to many skin, hair and eye tones.) “This multifaceted hue is seductive when combined with red and pairs well with its sister shades of lavender, purple and pink, which provides an assortment of lipstick and blush options.” And c’mon here, it’s buoyancy is a brilliant finish to your nails.

Multi-uses, check.

Which brings me to the question: How will you wear Radiant Orchid?
